CURRENT ACTIVITIES:

Take a Step to Health Program

Program Overview: The Take a Step to Health program is dedicated to mobilizing Amador County Citizens to identify and support positive behavioral changes towards achieving a healthier lifestyle through healthy diets and physical activity. Realizing that small changes over time yield dramatic results, the goal is to address lifestyle choices leading to poor nutrition and physical inactivity, which contribute to many diseases. It serves as an approach in acquiring healthy habits.

UC Cooperative Extension is currently promoting the Take a Step to Health program with local citizens, private industry, school districts, health fairs and service organizations. The program offers informational presentations about making steps towards better health and toolkits to help support specific health goals. As part of the program, interested residents are asked to make a commitment to improving personal health by signing a personally accountability contract. If you would like a presentation about the program please contact Dorothy Smith dorsmith@ucdavis.edu. To download a Take a Step to Health Goal Contract visit http://groups.ucanr.org/takeastep
