U.C. Cooperative Extension Program Representative Andrew Kramer has developed a pesticide safety training course designed to promote a better understanding of pesticides and their potential health risks among the Spanish speaking population of agricultural workers in Amador, El Dorado and Calaveras Counties. The training course helps growers comply with California regulations and meets the requirements of fieldworker pesticide safety training as outlined by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation. The training is interactive and uses a variety of methods such as role plays and small group discussions to help trainees better retain the information presented. Each training course lasts between two and three hours based on the number of participants. The training is provided for groups of five or more fieldworkers in Spanish or English at no cost.
